Marinade works with all major Solana wallets. This guide covers setup, connection, and best practices.

Browser Extension Wallets#

Phantom#

The most popular Solana wallet with 3M+ users.

Installation:

  1. Visit phantom.app
  2. Click "Download" and select your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge)
  3. Install the browser extension
  4. Click "Create a new wallet"
  5. Write down your recovery phrase (12 words) on paper - never digitally
  6. Set a strong password
  7. Done - you're ready to use Marinade

Protect Your Recovery Phrase

Your recovery phrase is the ONLY way to recover your wallet if you lose access. Write it down, store it safely offline, and never share it with anyone.

Solflare#

Installation:

  1. Visit solflare.com
  2. Choose your platform:
    • Extension - Chrome, Brave, Firefox, Edge
    • Web - Access from any browser at solflare.com/access
    • Mobile - iOS and Android apps
  3. Click "Create new wallet"
  4. Save your recovery phrase securely offline
  5. Verify recovery phrase by entering words in order
  6. Set password and finish setup

  3. Create a new wallet or import existing
  4. Backup your recovery phrase securely
  5. Complete setup

Hardware Wallets#

Ledger#

Maximum security for large holdings. Your private keys never leave the device.

Initial Setup:

  1. Purchase directly from ledger.com (never buy used)
  2. Set up device with PIN and recovery phrase
  3. Install Ledger Live desktop app
  4. In Ledger Live, go to My Ledger → Install Solana app
  5. On the Ledger device: Solana app → Settings → Enable Blind Signing

Using with Marinade:

  1. Open Phantom extension
  2. Click account icon → Add / Connect Hardware Wallet
  3. Select Ledger and follow prompts
  4. Your Ledger account appears in Phantom
  5. Use Marinade normally - approve transactions on Ledger screen
  1. Go to solflare.com/access
  2. Click Access Wallet → Using Ledger
  3. Connect and unlock your Ledger
  4. Open Solana app on device
  5. Select account to use

Blind Signing Required

Marinade's smart contract transactions require blind signing enabled on Ledger. This is safe when using the official app.marinade.finance - always verify the URL before signing.

Mobile Wallets#

Mobile wallets let you stake with Marinade directly from your phone via the in-app browser.

Phantom Mobile#

Using Marinade on Phantom Mobile:

  1. Open Phantom app
  2. Tap the globe icon (browser) at bottom
  3. Navigate to app.marinade.finance
  4. Tap Connect Wallet - auto-connects
  5. Stake as normal

Solflare Mobile#

Using Marinade on Solflare Mobile:

  1. Open Solflare app
  2. Tap the browser/discover tab
  3. Enter app.marinade.finance
  4. Connect and stake

Sync Between Devices

Both Phantom and Solflare let you import the same wallet on multiple devices using your recovery phrase. Your funds are on the blockchain, not the device.

Connecting to Marinade#

Step 1: Visit Marinade#

Go to app.marinade.finance

Verify the URL

Always check you're on the real site: app.marinade.finance. Bookmark it to avoid phishing sites.

Step 2: Click Connect#

Click Connect Wallet in the top right corner

Step 3: Select Wallet#

Choose your wallet from the list. Supported options include:

  • Phantom
  • Solflare
  • Backpack
  • Ledger (via Phantom/Solflare)
  • WalletConnect (for mobile)
  • And 20+ other Solana wallets

Step 4: Approve Connection#

Approve the connection request in your wallet popup

Connected

You'll see your wallet address displayed in the top right. You're ready to stake!

Adding mSOL to Your Wallet#

After liquid staking, mSOL should appear automatically. If it doesn't:

  1. Scroll down your token list - mSOL usually auto-adds
  2. If missing: Settings → Token List → Search "mSOL"
  3. Or: Manage Token List → Add custom token:

  1. Go to Portfolio/Assets tab
  2. Click Manage token list
  3. Search "mSOL" and enable it

  1. Click + to add token
  2. Search "mSOL" or paste:

Troubleshooting#

Wallet not connecting

Try these steps in order:

  1. Refresh the page - Solves most issues
  2. Check extension is enabled - Click puzzle icon in browser, ensure wallet is on
  3. Only one wallet active - Disable other wallet extensions temporarily
  4. Try incognito/private mode - Rules out other extension conflicts
  5. Update your wallet - Use the latest version
  6. Try a different browser - Chrome/Brave work best
Transaction not appearing

Check these:

  1. Correct network - Ensure wallet is set to Mainnet, not Devnet
  2. Give it time - Transactions can take 30-60 seconds during congestion
  3. Check Solana Explorer - Search your wallet address at explorer.solana.com
  4. Check Solscan - Alternative at solscan.io
Hardware wallet issues

Ledger troubleshooting:

  1. Unlock with PIN - Device must be unlocked
  2. Open Solana app - Must be active on the device screen
  3. Enable blind signing - Solana app → Settings → Blind signing → Enabled
  4. Close Ledger Live - Can't use Ledger Live and browser wallet simultaneously
  5. Try different USB port - Some ports don't provide enough power
  6. Update firmware - Use Ledger Live to check for updates
